THIS POEM I SAW MORE THAN 40 YEARS AGO, ABOUT THE ANT AND THE CRICKET

The Ant and the Cricket

A  silly young cricket acustom to sing through the warm sunny months of may summer and spring ,

He began to complain when he found that at home his cuboard was empty and winter was come.

not a crumbs to be found on the snow covered ground, not a flower could he see ,not a leaf on a tree.

O what will become  said the cricket of me,

At last with starvation and famine may bold

All dripping with wet and trembling with cold

A way he set off to a misery ant ,to see if to keep him alive he would grant him   shelter from rain, and a mouth full of grain.

said the cricket to the ant

I wish only to borrow ,i will repay it tomorrow ,if not i will die of starvation and sorrow.

Said the ant  to the cricket ,you sing sir you say,

now go and dance all winter away.

===============================================================================================================================it means that the ant work very hard in the summer months  to store food that they will need in winter.

but the cricket only was singing and having fun all the time. and did not store food for when the winter comes.

so the ant did not give the cricket anything.
