Chapter 7

1(Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the LORD, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite.) O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:

2Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.

3O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;

4If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)

5Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.

6Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.

7So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.

8The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.

9Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.

10My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.

11God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

12If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.

13He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.

14Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.

15He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.

16His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

17I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.

7 (0) A shiggayon of David, which he sang to Adonai because of Kush the Ben-Y’mini:

2 (1) Adonai my God, in you I take refuge.
Save me from all my pursuers, and rescue me;
3 (2) otherwise, they will maul me like a lion
and tear me apart, with no rescuer present.

4 (3) Adonai my God, if I have caused this,
if there is guilt on my hands,
5 (4) if I paid back evil to him who was at peace with me,
when I even spared those who opposed me without cause;
6 (5) then let the enemy pursue me
until he overtakes me
and tramples my life down into the earth;
yes, let him lay my honor in the dust. (Selah)

7 (6) Rise up, Adonai, in your anger!
Arouse yourself against the fury of my foes.
Wake up for me; you commanded justice.
8 (7) May the assembly of the peoples surround you;
may you return to rule over them from on high.
9 (8) Adonai, who dispenses judgment to the peoples,
judge me, Adonai, according to my righteousness
and as my integrity deserves.
10 (9) Let the evil of the wicked come to an end,
and establish the righteous;
since you, righteous God,
test hearts and minds.
11 (10) My shield is God,
who saves the upright in heart.

12 (11) God is a righteous judge,
a God whose anger is present every day.
13 (12) If a person will not repent,
he sharpens his sword.
He has bent his bow, made it ready;
14 (13) he has also prepared for him
weapons of death, his arrows,
which he has made into burning shafts.

15 (14) Look how the wicked is pregnant with evil;
he conceives trouble, gives birth to lies.
16 (15) He makes a pit, digs it deep,
and falls into the hole he made.
17 (16) His mischief will return onto his own head,
his violence will recoil onto his own skull.

18 (17) I thank Adonai for his righteousness
and sing praise to the name of Adonai ‘

7 En sång av David, som han sjöng till HERREN för benjaminiten Kus' ords skull.

2 HERRE, min Gud, till dig tager jag min tillflykt; fräls mig från alla mina förföljare och rädda mig,

3 så att de icke, såsom lejon, sönderslita min själ och rycka bort henne utan räddning.

4 HERRE, min Gud, har jag gjort sådant, och är orätt i mina händer,

5 har jag med ont vedergällt ned som höll frid med mig eller plundrat den som var min ovän utan sak,

6 så förfölje fienden min själ och tage henne fatt och trampe mitt liv till jorden och lägge min ära i stoftet. Sela.

7 Stå upp, HERRE, i din vrede, res dig mot mina ovänners raseri och vakna upp till min hjälp, du som har påbjudit dom.

8 Må folkens församling omgiva dig, och må du över den vända åter till höjden.

9 HERREN håller dom över folken; skaffa mig rätt, HERRE, efter min rättfärdighet och ostrafflighet.

10 Låt de ogudaktigas ondska få en ände, men håll den rättfärdige vid makt; ty du, som prövar hjärtan och njurar, är en rättfärdig Gud.

11 Min sköld är i Guds hand; han frälsar de rättsinniga.

12 Gud är en rättfärdig domare och en Gud som dagligen vredgas.

13 Om någon icke vill omvända sig, så vässer han sitt svärd, sin båge spänner han och gör den redo;

14 och han riktar mot honom dödande skott, sina pilar gör han brinnande.

15 Se, denne är i födsloarbete med fördärv, han går havande med olycka, men han föder ett intet.

16 Han gräver en grop och gör den djup, men han faller själv i den grav som han gräver.

17 Den olycka han tänkte vålla vänder tillbaka på hans huvud, och över hans hjässa kommer hans ondska.

18 Jag vill tacka HERREN efter hans rättfärdighet och lovsjunga HERRENS, den Högstes, namn.
